Goldendoodle vs Australian Labradoodle: Which Is Right for Your Family?

Why we chose Australian Labradoodles for health, longevity, and consistency

Many families who contact us begin their search looking for a Goldendoodle. They love the teddy bear look, friendly personality, and low-shedding coat — and we completely understand why.

Over time, many of those same families discover Australian Labradoodles and realize they offer the look they love with added consistency, health standards, and long-term reliability. That’s when their search shifts from “cute puppy” to “best fit for our family.”

At Elite Blend Labradoodles, our goal is to help you make an informed, confident decision. Whether you’re just starting your search or narrowing down your options, we’re here to guide you every step of the way.

Our First Priority: Long-Term Health & Longevity

When we began breeding, our biggest question wasn’t “Which puppies are the cutest?” It was: “Which dogs are most likely to live long, healthy lives?”

After years of research, mentorship, and hands-on experience, we learned that carefully selected Labrador and Poodle lines — the foundation of Australian Labradoodles — tend to offer greater genetic stability and fewer inherited health concerns.

Australian Labradoodles are bred through multigenerational programs with extensive health testing, helping reduce unpredictable outcomes and prioritize long-term wellness. This often leads to stronger immune systems, fewer chronic conditions, and longer average lifespans.

For us, this matters deeply. We don’t just want to place a puppy in your home — we want to see that dog thriving with your family for many years to come.

Why Breed Standards Matter

breeder accountability

Both Australian Labradoodles and Goldendoodles can be wonderful family dogs when bred responsibly. Goldendoodles are supported by breeder organizations such as GANA (Goldendoodle Association of North America), which promote health testing and ethical breeding. Australian Labradoodles, however, were intentionally developed as a multigenerational breed over decades, with dedicated registries and defined standards designed to create greater consistency in temperament, coat, and structure.

Australian Labradoodles vs Goldendoodles

When we started Elite Blend Labradoodles, we had a choice: follow trends or follow standards. We chose standards.

Australian Labradoodle breeders participate in established organizations, complete rigorous health testing, and follow ethical breeding practices. This creates accountability, mentorship, and continuous improvement.
Being part of this community means we are constantly learning and refining our program — not because we have to, but because families deserve it.

We chose this path because it produces healthier dogs, more predictable outcomes, and better long-term experiences. It requires more work — but it’s worth it.

Founded in 2011, Elite Blend Labradoodles has spent more than a decade refining a full-time, health-focused Australian Labradoodle program.
